Do not sleep on Facebook! I just went viral and got 12k+ followers, 17.6 M views, in 3days!!!

Hi all!!! Just wanted to share another journey I have been on growing my social media presence. I started with IG back in April and it was moving slow as molasses. A few days ago I was at 204 followers after MONTHS of consistently posting content. I joined TikTok in June, and while it was faster to gain followers, I wasn't making big gains.

Spread the Word!!

I have had just one client for almost 2 months now but I have been spreading the word at NA meetings, calling level II programs, and other Sober living facilities trying to get my name out in the community. Today I just finished interviewing my 2nd resident this morning and he will move in next week!!! So it may take some time but remain focused on your goal and your why.

I just wanted to share that I was able to get a business bank account set up for my LLC with a savings account attached as well. One more step forward.

Started sending out my emails this week. Turns out they were waiting for me! So much need in my community. Now I just need to open a house. Overwhelmed by the responses but trusting the process and counting my blessings.

Game changer for self-pay!!!!

We don't have many options for government funding or other funding, which if I'm honest I'm not a huge fan of anyway. We want to promote independence, and good work ethic in our houses. Anyone who comes in our house who is not working but has income is expected to either do part time work or volunteer somewhere 10-20 hours a week.

This woman used to train house leads and managers for several SLEs in the San Jose, CA area several years ago. She wants to help our home succeed. I feel so grateful. Lucky to find good guests

Got some new guests who wanted to have pride in where they live! This is a new property we are renting and it still needs a lot of work. Well, these new guests decided they wanted to help get the house in better shape. They went to town with cutting down vines and used a pressure washer on all the exterior wood and siding!

4th House Loading

Waiting for referrals while preparing another home and applying for funding requires the kind of faith Jacob displayed in the Bible, preparing in advance for what God promised, even before he could see it. Our 4th home is currently being prepared and will soon offer 7 beds for individuals seeking a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Things are getting real

Haven't shared anything in a while. We have our first property under purchase contract and closing on August 19th. We are purchasing a brand new duplex. Essentially two businesses in one structure. One side is occupied by a traditional renter for now, which will help with the mortgage while we get the sober living side built out and occupied.

Invited to Present at the CoC Meeting

I'm excited to share that our organization has been invited to present as the lead organization at the Northwest Florida CoC meeting in August. Unlike the previous 3-5 minute introduction, this will be a 25-30 minute presentation.

This is a HUGE win that I had to share!

A few weeks ago, we had our very first person join our waitlist, even though we didn't have a house yet. He has no income and is currently living in a shelter, but every single week he calls just to let us know he's still waiting.

One Month In: Growing and Learning

I joined this community exactly one month ago today, and I’m truly grateful for how much growth has already happened in such a short time. Since joining, I’ve been able to set up my holding company, LLC, business bank account, business phone number, business email, and my company website. I would love to receive any feedback you may have. I’m constantly learning so much from everyone in this community. The Zoom calls have been especially valuable because they continue to give me insight into different aspects of this business model that I need to consider as I move forward. I have been in the community 2 weeks and it’s a steady, bumpy, uphill process. Vacation!

I was super nervous about leaving the country but had been planning it for since last fall. Sitting on the beach in Naxos, relieved that the woman I asked to be my “assistant” has worked out so well. My residents check in with her every day and text her whenever they leave and return from the house. My assistant is very active in AA/NA and has 10 yrs sobriety, she is also an RN. I’m hoping to work with her more and possibly hire her as a manager when the house is fuller. I’m considering that as a win. Life is good.

Grateful!

It’s been quite a while since I posted, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you and share a quick update. By God’s grace, we now have two homes, both full with a waiting list, and we’re preparing to open two more homes — one in mid-July and another in August. We’ve been blessed to build strong relationships with our county, probation and parole, and local treatment providers, and we are now serving as a step-down option for a county program as well as two residential treatment programs. We also have an amazing team of four staff members helping support this work. I want to sincerely thank this group. The knowledge and experience shared here have been invaluable, and I know many of the things we’ve done successfully were influenced by what I’ve learned from all of you. To God be the glory for every step of this journey. If anyone is getting started or has questions about filling homes, building referral relationships, or growing a program, I’d be happy to share what has worked for us. Thank you all again for being such a tremendous resource.

Credentialed and On to House #3

I am so excited to finally be credentialed. I received my letter today. Just in time, because we’ve been working hard on our latest house. It has taken me 14 months to get this letter. That is crazy, and it could have gone faster if I knew what they were going to ask for next and was better prepared. But it’s finally approved, and I am so excited to add Community Supports and ECM to my homes. This coincides with me meeting Andrew. I already had the thought of opening sober homes, then I met Andrew and at dinner he told me about becoming a provider. I left and immediately started looking at how I could become one. After that dinner, I knew I had to learn more from Andrew. I signed up immediately, and here I am on house #3.

2 Beds From Our First Full House

Awarded a $60,000 State Grant

We had applied for a grant from the state for new recovery residences and was awarded $60,000! It’s a huge win for us to be able to furnish and rent a house. After nearly three weeks of house tours we also found a landlord that is willing to rent to us to run a recovery residence! It’s a little pricey but it’s a newly renovated house with two kitchens, 4 baths, and we can probably get 10 or 11 people in there. We are negotiating the lease now. So if all goes well, we can open in Feb! Truthfully I was losing hope at the end of the year but the stars aligned in the new year. Keep focus and stay positive!
